Small Wedding, Big Feeling: Why an Intimate Day at Horetown Might Be Exactly What You’re Looking For

We get it. Somewhere between “let’s elope” and “we need 200 people and a marquee the size of a small country,” there’s a whole world of couples who just want… something in between. A day that feels like them. Close friends, favourite family, good food, no fuss. If that’s you, come sit down, we want to have a chat.

The Garden Room

Our Garden Room is a permanent room with soft cream tent linings and thousands of fairy lights.  We can create long tables to seat guests at a single table or multiple tables to make the perfect wedding layout.

The Garden Room is the perfect size for weddings 60 to 200 guests.

The White Room

The White Room is a bright and airy space completer with French doors and slide and sash windows.  In beautiful summer weather the room can feel like an outdoor space while in Winter we can serve dinner by candlelight to add a little extra magic to your event.  The maximum number in this space is 60 guests but we would recommend using the Garden room for numbers over 40 to allow more flexibility for your seating plan.

For micro weddings of fewer than 40 guests or private elopments get in touch with us to discuss our other spaces and options for your special celebration.

There’s No “Too Small” Here

One of the questions we get asked most is some version of, “but is our number too small for you?” And honestly? No. We don’t have a minimum guest number in our quieter months, which still surprises people. Whether it’s 20 of your favourite humans or a full house party of 200, the White Room and Garden Room flex to fit the day you actually want — not the day you think you’re supposed to have.

A smaller wedding at Horetown doesn’t mean a smaller experience. If anything, it means more of everything that matters: more time with your people, more attention from our team, more of those quiet in-between moments that get lost in a bigger crowd.

The House Really Does Feel Like a House

Since 2009, couples have been choosing Horetown for their wedding, and we think a big part of that is because this was never built to feel like a hotel or a function room. It’s a proper 18th century Georgian home, and when your numbers are small, that feeling only gets stronger. You’re not sharing space with three other events. You’re not queuing for a bar in a corridor. You’ve got the run of the place — gardens, gathering rooms, and a cosy, candlelit corner in our cellar bar, the 1692 Bar, complete with an open fire and stone walls that have clearly seen a party or two over the centuries.

For an intimate group, that kind of space does something lovely — it makes everyone feel like they’ve been let in on a secret, rather than herded through an itinerary.

Weekend, Not Just a Wedding Day

Small weddings are often about wanting time, not just an event. That’s exactly what a weekend at Horetown gives you. Wake up in the house the morning after, wander the gardens with a coffee, let the whole thing breathe instead of rushing everyone out the door by midnight. With accommodation for guests staying over — whether that’s a room in the main house or one of our Shepherd’s Huts tucked into the grounds — your closest people get to properly linger, not just attend.

Food That Matches the Mood

Smaller numbers also mean we can get properly personal with the food, and that’s something we genuinely love leaning into. We grow a lot of what ends up on your plate right here — flowers, herbs, veg — and source the rest from Wexford producers we know and trust. An intimate wedding is the perfect excuse for a menu that feels considered rather than mass-produced, and our team enjoys nothing more than tailoring it around what actually matters to you.

So, Is Small the Right Size for You?

If you’re picturing a day that’s more about connection than capacity — long lunches, a fire lit even in summer, dancing that starts whenever it feels right rather than on a strict schedule — we think you’ll feel very at home here.

Pop us a message, tell us roughly how many of you there’ll be (big or small, genuinely), and let’s figure out what your Horetown weekend could look like.
